  4. When using Windows, there are icons for programs, but usually there
  5. are no icons for documents.  Thus, when you create a, say, Word for
  6. Windows document, if you want to edit it again, you must start Word
  7. for Windows and then use the "Open..." command to retrieve it.
  8.  
  9. This program is designed to provide you with a facility to build
  10. folders (or groups) of documents.  Thus, in these special document
  11. folders, there will be an icon for each matching filename.  For
  12. example, using Folder Builder you can create a "Documents" folder of
  13. all C:\WINWORD\*.DOC files.  The system will assign icons to files
  14. based upon their extension.  ICONS.ZIP contains sample icon files for
  15. Word for Windows and Excel files.  Feel free to add your own.

  17. It should be appreciated that this is a rough 'n' ready program, and
  18. has it's limitations.  Nevertheless, I find it useful.  You may or
  19. may not.

  21. Included in this zip file are:
  22.  
  23.    BUILDER.TXT  - This file
  24.    BUILDER.EXE  - The Windows 3.0 program
  25.    ICONS.ZIP    - A small collection of icons.  It is recommended that
  26.                   These be put in a directory C:\WINDOWS\ICONS, but that
  27.                   is completely up to you.
  28.    W4WMACRO.TXT - A text file with a Word for Windows (v2.0) macro that
  29.                   adds the current document to some group.

  31. Changes since v1.0 include:
  32.   1. Improved button handling;
  33.   2. Improved icon file searching; and
  34.   3. Also, v1.2 allows you to define multiple paths for a single icon.
  35.      Thus, by defining one group called "Documents" with a mask of
  36.      "C:\WORD\TEXT\*.DOC" and another called "Documents" (i.e. the
  37.      same name) with a mask of "C:\WINDOWS\*.WRI", both Word for
  38.      Windows and Write documents can be included in a single window.
  39.      Clearly, they will be given different icons, but they can be in
  40.      the same group if you want.
  41.   4. Use of hourglass icon while in process.

  43. This program is free and may be distributed freely for non-commercial
  44. use as long as my name stays on the program.  I would appreciate
  45. comments from users, especially notes on any bugs or problems, but
  46. cannot guarantee any quick resolution to problems.  Additionally,
  47. while I cannot forsee any problems, I am not liable for any damage or
  48. problems resulting from the use of this program.
